If you do check the following places for it underneath the carpet, behind the dishwasher, kitchen cabinets, furnace/utility room and crawl space unit within your apartment/home where it is dark and moisture lies. Your health is worth more than someone telling you anything different. The fan was located in the bathroom and never got replaced while I was living there. The different strains of mold that exist in the crawl space up above the bathroom are; Alternaria, Aspergillus, Cladosporium, and Penicillum.
