Chapter 15 [Episode 15] Part 1:
Once everyone is sure Cynthia has left...
Sara: So Nick, are you really allergic to dogs?
Nick: No, I just did that so Kevin won't have to keep the dog.
Joe: By pretending to be allergic?
Nick: Yep.
Amanda: Luckily we all picked up on the idea.
Ellie: And you said you weren't smart.
Amanda: -smile- I have my moments.
The next day, Friday, after school, Amanda gets psyched for her soccer game the next day and the parents come. Amanda arrives at the condo after school to see that "the parentals" have arrived.
Amanda: -stops on the pathway to the door, and notices Ellie trying to lug all of the bags into the house- Need help, El?
Ellie: Oh I don't need any help at all just let me become hunchback for the rest of my life.
Amanda: OK then.
Ellie: YES! I do need help.
Mom: Are you yelling at your sister?
Ellie: No, I just changed the octave of my voice that's all. It's nice to see you mom I missed you.
Mom: Me too, honey, but let us chat inside, shall we.
Amanda helps Ellie get the bags into the condo.
Dad: I checked your car Amanda, you been driving it often?
Amanda: No not really. But I have to admit, when I do, I drive pretty fast.
Dad: -laugh- We always did have the same pet peeve-
Together(Amanda & Dad): People who drive so slow they hold up traffic. -laugh-
Amanda: -hugs Dad- I missed you.
Dad: Missed you too honey.
Mom: Oh yes, you did inherit that ghastly automobile obsession from your father. -turns to Ellie- Where will we be sleeping?
Ellie: Well Jonathon needs to stay one more night, but he's sleeping on the couch. You can sleep in my room and I'll sleep in Amanda's because she was planning on staying with the Jonas' tonight.
Mom: Who?
Ellie: You remember, the three brothers, Joe, Nick, and Kevin. And Jonathon is my high school friend remember him?
Mom: Oh yes I remember him,and the musicians.
Ellie: Yeah. You'll see them tonight because I invited them for dinner.
Mom: Alright, where are we going and who is going?
Ellie: Uhh, Amanda, Nick, Kevin, Joe, Jonathon, Sara, and maybe Kevin's girlfriend Cynthia. At Maggiano's?
Mom: Very well then. What time with this occasion take place?
Ellie: At Six o' clock. Oh and it's an Italian Eatery.
Mom: -smiles- Italian. You know me well my dear.
Ellie: Yeah Mom I sure know you well. *forced smile*
At Six o' clock that night, Nick, Joe, Kevin, and Cynthia meet Sara, Amanda, Ellie, and Amanda/Ellie's parents at Maggiano's.
Amanda: Mom, Dad, this is Nick, that's Kevin, and that's Joe.
Ellie: Oh this is Jonathon my date.
Jonathon: What!?
Ellie: My date. *giving him a look/staring at him*.
Jonathon: Yeah her date to dinner. Nice to see you again Mr. and Mrs. Hollander.
Mom: A boy with manners, he's a keeper.
Ellie: *Sarcastic* Oh yeah he's totally a keeper.
Ellie drags Jonathon out of earshot for a moment.
Ellie: Pretend to be my date.
Jonathon: It's not like I have a choice apparently I'm a "keeper."
Ellie: Haha, everybody has a date except us so were going to be each others date so my mom won't have anything to complain about and this could be one big happy family.
Jonathon: OK then what about Kevin?
Ellie: He has Cynthia.
Jonathon: I meant you like him...don't you?
Ellie: Let us not change the subject. Let's get back before they get crazy ideas. And hold my hand.
Jonathon: Fine.
As they head back to the table to the parents, Amanda, Nick, Sara, Joe, Kevin, and Cynthia they all stare at them until they sit down.
-Awkward silence-
Ellie: Cynthia I don't think you officially met Jonathon, he's my date. And my best friend from high school. Also, he is in the Marine Corps.
Kevin: Your date?
Mom: Wow, you really know how to pick them honey.
Ellie: Yeah thanks mom.
Once they order and awhile later their food arrives...
Mom: Amanda, don't place your elbows on the table!
Amanda: -removing elbows from table- *mumbles* Sorry.
Mom: And put your napkin on your lap.
Amanda: *exhales* -flings napkin up and open, and then places it on her lap- That good?
Mom: Don't talk to me in that tone.
Amanda: Sorry...
Mom: Better. Maybe if you were more poised, I'd approve of you dating someone.
The table grows quiet so Sara attempts small talk.
Sara: So Mrs. Hollander how long are you staying?
Mom: A week or so.
Amanda: -chokes on food- What?!
Mom: I'm staying for about a week. You know, seven days.
Amanda: I know how long a week is. -grits teeth-
Ellie: Mom you don't have to stay so long for me you know. Don't be doing me any favors. -nervous laugh- We could talk on the phone more.
Mom: Oh no, I want to stay and talk to my girl.
Ellie: Don't you mean "girls"?
Mom: Well one of them is quite distasteful. I mean loo-
Amanda: -shoves chair out and gets up- If you'll excuse me. -walks outside-
Nick: Excuse me. -gets up to walk after Amanda-
