This is a song I wrote and recorded back in the spring of 1984. I played the instruments myself, using a four-track recorder and an antique rhythm machine. The sneezing was spontaneously recorded on a separate track whenever my nose started to itch.
As for the importance of this song in regard to hay fever as a major topic in pop songs such as "Keep on Running" by the Spencer Davis Group, Dylan's "Blowing in the Wind", etc, go to my youtube video "Keep on Running: Hay Fever in Pop Songs":
NOTE: In contrast to what some self-appointed sociolinguists want us to believe, "Thar she blows!" is not a whaling expression. Actually, it was coined by Bjoern Weizenkeim, a retired German rock musician and hay fever victim from Brochterbeck, during a severe sneezing fit. His English was somewhat limited, which is why he used the word "she" - in German a nose is actually a female noun ("die" Nase). . . . . Author: Berniewahlbrinck
