This is my 1979 Kirby Tradition, serial number F334825. When I bought it, it had a Sani-Emtor, Tradition-style filltube and Style 1 Bag Clip and bag, and a genuine Kirby cloth outer bag on it. Just recently I upgraded to a mini-emtor/HEPA filter bag setup, and it really brought it to life.
Here's a list of the unique traits it currently has:
- Early serial number, #F334825 (manufactured in October 1979)
- Metal fan
- Small latch on light cap that locks the cap in the Up or Down position (possibly a remnant of the controversial safety switch setup)
- Raised part on rug nozzle (also possibly part of the controversial safety switch setup)
- Four row brush roll (with genuine Kirby knurled belt)
- Mini Em-Tor with large filltube
- Kirby MicronMagic HEPA filter bag (rated HEPA 11)
- Genuine Kirby cloth outer bag (says "Kirby" and "S&F" on the tag)
I only paid $60 for it at a pawn shop, and all it needed was a new brushroll and belt. I have the original Sani-Emtor, filltube setup, cloth outer bag and the related parts still together and intact. The current cloth outer bag is off of one of my CIIIs, which has since been converted to use a cloth bag setup.
I will also be doing a video of my Trad with its original bag setup sometime soon. Author: moosjawskachywan
